Inner Work & Trauma Recovery

For so many people life has been incredibly challenging and they often find they are experiencing difficulties, such as toxic and unhealthy relationships, unable to regulate their emotions, battling with addictions, unhealthy eating habits or repeating patterns of behaviour that are harmful to themselves or others.

Whatever it is you’re dealing with just know that you’re not alone

It may be that the root of your struggles began in childhood Or maybe you experienced trauma in as an adult. regardless of when it occurred trauma at any age can be devastating.

For many people they’re unsure of the root cause of their current day struggles but are battling with symptoms of trauma such as anxiety, depression, procrastination, sleep difficulties, unhealthy eating habits, addiction, difficult relationships, low self-esteem, brain fog, low motivation, chronic fatigue, irritability, physical tension, panic attacks, chronic pain, emotional numbness, difficulty regulating emotions, chronic people pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries and difficulty concentrating.

I know only too well the chaos, despair and exhaustion that comes with trying to function while feeling completely broken.

I spent decades in talk therapy trying to overcome my own struggles and got no where.

I finally came across somatic therapy and the powerful interplay between the body and mind which lead to my own profound healing.

Inspired by my own recovery I trained in the very modality which turned my life around and have continued updating my knowledge and training ever since.

I currently offer two options for trauma recovery, both of which you can find out more about below.

I am also offer The Safe And Sound Protocol which is a powerful addition to either of the options available or as a stand alone therapy.

Somatic Trauma Informed Coaching

Somatic Trauma Informed Coaching focuses on the body to work with the presenting challenges, so understanding the cause isn’t necessary. The body holds all the information we need and it knows how to heal if given the right time and support to do so.

Using a combination of Parts work, positive psychology, brainspotting and psychoeducation we will work to connect you back to your body so that you can gain access to your authentic self, support your nervous system to process and integrate past experiences and reach higher levels of emotional well being.

Embodied Processing

In the world of mental health and trauma therapy, traditional talk therapy has long been the go-to method. However, a growing body of research suggests that healing is not just about what we think but also about how our bodies respond to experiences. This is where somatic therapy like Embodied Processing (EP) comes in—a transformative approach that integrates the mind and body, offering a path to deeper healing.

Embodied Processing is a holistic form of somatic psychotherapy that recognizes the body’s crucial role in mental and emotional well-being. Unlike conventional therapies that primarily focus on cognitive processes or “top-down” approaches, EP emphasizes a “bottom-up” pathway. This means it starts with the body, acknowledging that our physical sensations and bodily experiences significantly influence our emotions, thoughts, and overall mental health.

For those struggling with the lingering effects of trauma, chronic stress, or emotional difficulties that seem resistant to traditional therapy, Embodied Processing offers a powerful alternative. By focusing on the body’s innate wisdom and its role in healing, Embodied Processing provides a pathway to deeper, more lasting change. It empowers individuals to reconnect with their authentic selves, restoring a sense of balance, wholeness, and well-being.

Safe And Sound Protocol

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a non-invasive, five-hour auditory intervention developed by Dr. Stephen Porges.

Grounded in Polyvagal Theory, SSP uses specially filtered music to stimulate the vagus nerve, promoting a sense of safety and calm. This innovative approach aims to reduce stress, enhance social engagement, and improve emotional regulation.

SSP leverages the power of sound frequencies to train the neural network associated with listening. By focusing on the frequency range of the human voice, the SSP helps the nervous system receive, process, and respond to external cues more effectively. This process fosters a state of physiological and emotional balance, making it easier to handle life's challenges.

SSP has been shown to help with a variety of conditions and symptoms, including:

  • Emotion Regulation: Improves the ability to manage and express emotions effectively.

  • Social Engagement: Enhances the capacity for forming and maintaining meaningful relationships.

  • Stress Reduction: Reduces symptoms of anxiety and stress.

  • Trauma Recovery: Assists in processing and healing from trauma.

  • Auditory Sensitivity: Decreases sensitivity to auditory stimuli.

SSP has been used to help people who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, auditory sensitivity and social and emotional difficulties.

As well as using SSP as a standalone therapy I am able to integrate the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) with somatic coaching or Embodied Processing to provide a holistic approach to healing. By combining SSP with these powerful techniques, I help clients access deeper levels of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and physiological balance. This integration fosters a profound connection between mind and body, facilitating lasting change and resilience. The calming effect of SSP enhances the effectiveness of these methods, enabling clients to process and release trauma, stress, and emotional blockages more efficiently.
